When asked why GroundWork group decided to host this new award event, GroundWork group CEO John Hrusovsky said, “We wanted to create the Nonprofit IT Creativity Awards to honor nonprofits specifically.  Accolades are given to a broad spectrum of businesses and individuals – we wanted to put that spotlight on excellent nonprofit organizations."

For these inaugural Nonprofit IT Creativity Awards, GroundWork group Columbus received 200 nominations representing a total of 78 nonprofit organizations across Ohio.  Award Winners were selected by an all-volunteer, independent panel of judges.

The agenda for the day was not only to recognize nonprofits for creatively thinking about IT, but also to provide the opportunity to learn from the best practices of others.  GroundWork group Columbus prepared a booklet highlighting the projects of each of the Semi-Finalists.  Reading through this booklet proves that nonprofits are running amazing programs and implementing innovative technology projects to effectively deliver their services to their constituents.

Attendees were truly inspired by the work of the Semi-Finalists and Award Winners.  Through the GroundWork group Nonprofit IT Creativity Awards, we hope to increase public awareness of critical nonprofit programs and the value they add to the community.  We look forward to our Second Annual Nonprofit IT Creativity Awards in May 2012.
