Pediatric Outreach Education
The Pediatric Outreach Education Department facilitates lifelong learning and professional development for physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, emergency medical specialists and any other healthcare providers in the region. The focus is on enhancing safe and effective care to the children and families.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital serves a 44 county service region with up to date pediatric education including PALS, conferences and preceptorships.
Programs and Offerings
Virtual interactive webinar didactics offered to regional Ohio healthcare providers. Previous webinars include:
- Pediatric Respiratory Insufficiency
- AHA Update: ALS/PALS/BLS
- Pediatric Burn Diagnosis and Management
- Initial ED DKA Management
- Initial Evaluation and Management of Pediatric Seizures
- The Acute Evaluation and Management of Pediatric Trauma
- Evaluation and Management of Common Pediatric Sport Injuries and Their Analgesic/Sedation Needs
- Emergency Department Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Pediatric Infectious Disease Conditions

Educational experiences are offered in a variety of specific disciplines. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Rapid pediatric assessment in the community hospital
- Pediatric burn injury
- Pediatric trauma resuscitation
- Back-to-basics of pediatric ventilator management
- A source of inspiration (pediatric airway)
- PALS/ACLS
Various simulation and hands-on teaching opportunities are available at Nationwide Children's or at a regional site. Some experiences include but are not limited to:
- Acute respiratory and cardiovascular management of neonates and pediatrics
- Mock codes and critical scenarios
- Airway management
- Audience specific
