Academic Pediatric Dermatologist Faculty Position

The Division of Dermatology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek academic pediatric dermatologists to join our team.

The Division diagnoses and treats skin problems in children through age 21 and provides comprehensive, expert care for common childhood skin diseases as well as rare dermatologic disorders. Currently, the Division consists of four pediatric dermatologists, one fellow and two nurse practitioners. The Institution is extremely supportive of developing pediatric dermatology due to the enormous demand for this service.

Qualified candidates for this position must be board certified/eligible in dermatology with additional training or work experience in pediatrics and/or pediatric dermatology.
Responsibilities include providing outpatient and inpatient care to children of all ages, as well as teaching fellows and residents. Assistant Director, Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) is looking for an Assistant Director for the Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory (DIL). Individuals with a PhD in Immunology or related disciplines who are board-certified (ABMLI, DBMLI, ABCC, ABB-HCLD) or board-eligible for one of these certifications, or an MD or MD/PhD in Clinical Pathology or Hematopathology, who are willing to focus on Clinical Diagnostic Immunology-related areas and techniques, including flow cytometry, cellular assays and molecular techniques are sought. The ideal candidate should be within 2 years of completing a clinical fellowship. Individuals without board certification or eligibility or relevant clinical laboratory medicine training will not be considered for this position.

The DIL at NCH was founded in 2018 and is comprised of a team of highly skilled academic clinical scientists and laboratory personnel who provide comprehensive and esoteric testing for the diagnosis and monitoring of complex immunological disorders. The laboratory focuses on the validation and implementation of new diagnostic immunology testing through robust research and development (R&D). The DPLM is committed to supporting the DIL and faculty with R&D scientists for new areas of test development and validation.

The DIL has cellular and molecular immunology sections and is actively developing and validating a broad array of immunological assays (phenotypic, functional, soluble biomarkers, molecular assays), including specific esoteric tests not offered routinely elsewhere in clinical diagnostic immunology laboratories in North America.

The laboratory has an ambitious program of test development, validation and implementation to support clinical practices, internally and externally, for excellence in delivery of care for patients with rare immunological diseases. NCH is recognized as a Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic and Research Center for Primary Immunodeficiencies/Inborn Errors of Immunity. The DIL has a biorepository of patient and healthy blood-based samples for test development, validation and research. Its testing repertoire continues to grow in volume and new tests each year. The DPLM clinical laboratories combined have a volume of >3 million tests per year.

The DPLM at NCH includes approximately 30 pathologists and doctoral scientist faculty working with experienced technical staff in eight clinical laboratories. Building upon an already established and well-recognized pediatric pathology program, the candidate has the opportunity to grow the department’s mission by providing excellent clinical care, education and/or research.

The selected individual will be expected to actively contribute to the department’s research and educational mission by developing independent research projects or collaborative research, teaching and developing curricula, as appropriate, for residents, graduate students, pathology fellows, and technologists. Additionally, contributions via internal and external consultative services through the Outreach Program is strongly encouraged.

The DPLM also hosts the only Pediatric Clinical Pathology Fellowship in the country in addition to the accredited fellowship programs in Pediatric Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Genetics & Genomics. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to faculty development and academic advancement, we have instituted a robust mentorship program for junior faculty with mentors at NCH and external institutions.

Associate Medical Director, Epidemiology and Infection Prevention

Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine are seeking a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician to serve as the Associate Medical Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention.

The Department of Epidemiology currently consists of a team of 10 Infection Preventionists, an Administrative Director, an Administrative Assistant, and the Chief of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention. The Department of Epidemiology works within the Center for Clinical Excellence to lead multidisciplinary quality improvement efforts aimed at reducing patient harm from healthcare acquired infections. The Department collaborates closely with external public health partners at the local and state levels.

In addition to engaging in the clinical and academic responsibilities of the Section of Infectious Diseases, the Associate Medical Director will work alongside the Chief of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention and Administrative Director to develop and implement institutional policies, quality improvement initiatives, and surveillance activities. Opportunities exist for research within healthcare epidemiology and training within quality improvement.

Qualified candidates for this position must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases with experience in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, and quality improvement. Ideal candidates will possess a Master’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent.

The Section of Infectious Diseases consists of 18 clinical faculty who work closely with the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Director and two Assistant Directors (all PhDs) and 20 research faculty with established laboratory research programs in the Centers for Microbial Pathogenesis and Vaccines and Immunity at the Research Institute.

Body Radiologist

The Department of Radiology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) seeks a pediatric fellowship-trained, CAQ-certified or –eligible, radiologist to join the Body Section in a growing practice of 30 faculty providing care in all subspecialties of pediatric radiology. We encourage applications from trainees completing their fellowship in 2023 as well as practicing pediatric radiologists. Experience or interest in Fetal or Musculoskeletal Imaging (MSK) are desired.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will be clinical, providing imaging care as part of a collegial team of radiologists, using state of the art imaging equipment with advanced software packages, and with clinical providers committed to their patients via a one team approach.

Centered within the Department of Radiology, the Imaging Innovation and Research Office (IRO) is the core imaging resource for principle investigators at the NCH and the Abigail Wexner Research Institute. Chief, Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics

Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek an outstanding physician leader to direct a dynamic and growing Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.

The successful candidate will lead a robust group of physicians, nurse practitioners, and fellows who work closely with a wide range of disciplines to provide interprofessional care for children with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders. There were more than 8000 outpatient visits in 2022. Current programs include general Behavioral Pediatrics Clinic; the Child Development Center; the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders with intensive behavioral intervention; and specialty programs in ADHD, Down syndrome, Williams syndrome, spina bifida and early childhood mental health.

Qualifications include board certification in developmental-behavioral pediatrics or neurodevelopmental disabilities with experience in clinical, basic, or translational research; experience in quality and safety initiatives; a distinguished record of accomplishment as a clinician and academician; a proven record of leadership and managerial responsibilities; and experience in mentorship of junior faculty. The successful candidate must be qualified for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor. It fosters a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to mental health care that integrates psychiatry, psychology, community mental health, and related developmental pediatric behavioral health services at Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University. Outpatient psychiatric services have comprehensive nursing support.

A Psychiatric Crisis Department with nine assessment rooms that are more conducive to working with pediatric patients and families in crisis than a typical emergency room. A 10-bed Extended Observation Suite allows for appropriate time to determine if a patient should be admitted to a higher level of care.
A Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit with 16 beds designed for intensive mental health treatment for youth.
Influenced by trauma-informed practices, inpatient psychiatry units are maximized for safety and comfort, from furniture and lighting, to considerations made for bathrooms and doorways. The Section of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics currently consists of 8 clinical faculty and 4 nurse practitioners who work closely with Pediatric Psychology and other disciplines to provide interprofessional care for children with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and developmental disorders. Areas of expertise include Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Myelomeningocele, and William Syndrome. Director of Clinical Laboratory Hemostasis

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) seeks a board-certified physician trained in either Hematopathology, Transfusion Medicine or Hematology-Oncology with a strong background and academic interest in hemostasis and thrombosis to serve as Director of the Clinical Hemostasis Laboratory at NCH. The successful candidate will lead the advancement of the laboratory services to support the needs of Comprehensive Centers for Hemophilia & Bleeding Disorders, Hemostasis & Thrombosis, Anticoagulation, and the Adolescent and Young Adult Sickle Cell Clinic at NCH. The successful candidate will be responsible for research and development of new clinical tests, refinement of existing clinical tests, quality assurance, and regulatory oversight of clinical testing. Our goal is to further foster the partnership between DPLM and the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Blood & Marrow Transplant for shared resources that will enhance the integrated clinical and research programs for classical hematology at NCH.

The position will provide assistance to the Department’s active learning curriculum for residents, graduate students, pathology and clinical fellows. Fellowship programs offered within the DPLM are the GME sponsored Pediatric Clinical Pathology Program, the only such program in North America, and the ACGME accredited fellowship program in pediatric pathology. The Department is also in the process of launching an International Scholarship for Pathologists and Laboratorians to spend 3 months at NCH. Fellowships in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Blood & Marrow Transplant include an ACGME accredited Pediatric Hematology-Oncology program and a GME sponsored, advanced fellowship in Pediatric Hemostasis-Thrombosis. Of note, the Hemophilia Treatment Center at NCH is a recognized International Hemophilia Training Center.

The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at NCH is in the top 10 NIH funded pediatric research institutes in the United States. It is the site of the Center for Clinical & Translational Research in which hematology faculty are engaged in the study of the translational epidemiology of pediatric thrombosis, focusing on the clarification of biomarkers and clinical features linked to thrombosis, especially in pediatric kidney disease. Faculty in the Center for Child Health Equity and Outcomes Research are actively engaged in improved von Willebrand disease diagnostic testing and medication adherence for children with chronic classical hematology conditions. There is active participation in clinical trials for new treatments in hemostasis and thrombosis, including new medications and gene therapy for hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and blood clots. The recently established Blood Disease Research Affinity Group is designed to enhance classical hematology research across at NCH. The Research Institute is also the home to one of the world’s largest pediatric biobanks.

The Department of Pathology accessions over 300 bone marrow specimens, over 250 flow cytometry samples, over 1700 hemoglobin electrophoreses, as well as approximately 500 peripheral bloods smears, platelet aggregations and coagulation screenings annually. The clinical laboratories have a volume of >3 million tests per year and the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) clinical laboratory processes 7,000 specimens a year. The test menu of IGM continues to expand to support the DPLM as well as outside facilities across North America.

The Division of Child & Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking a Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the team.

The Division of Child & Family Advocacy consists of 6 Child Abuse Pediatricians (CAP) and 2 nurse practitioners. Housed at The Center for Family Safety and Healing, our Division is co-located with clinical social work, law enforcement, child protective services, behavioral health services, adult family violence services, Lawyers for Kids, and home visitation programs to provide a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of all aspects of family violence. Specific clinical responsibilities include assessment of both inpatient and outpatient cases of suspected child maltreatment as well as longitudinal care for children in the Fostering Connections Program, a patient-centered medical home for foster care youth. Additionally, the Division is home to a Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship and a combined Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship.

Epilepsy Surgery Team (Division of Neurology)

The Epilepsy Surgery Team at Nationwide Children’s hospital are leaders in the growing field of Epilepsy Surgery. We seek to hire a Neurophysiology Specialist to join the interdisciplinary team that includes: pediatric neurologists/epileptologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, ophthalmologists, neuropsychologists, behavioral specialists, and several other disciplines to support our level 4 Epilepsy Center.

Our level 4 Epilepsy Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital includes a cutting-edge Neurodiagnostic Program with an advanced Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), the EMU is a unit specifically designed for children to receive the essential long-term EEG monitoring for pre-surgical evaluation and post-operative tests.

Primary Responsibilities:

Interpretation and analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG), including high-density EEG and intracranial EEG
Expertise and proficiency in analysis and interpretation of clinically acquired neurophysiology data
Working with clinical neurophysiologists to analyze multimodal neurophysiology and radiographic data for EEG course localization and 3D modeling, alongside structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Interpretation and review of data, including report writing and manuscript writing
Liaise with clinical and translational researchers in support of the Epilepsy Surgery Program
Education and collaboration with attendings, fellows, residents, graduate students, and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Neurophysiology, Neuroscience, Engineering, or related field

Hospital Pediatrics Faculty Position

The Division of Hospital Pediatrics at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join a growing and dynamic academic division.

The Division of Hospital Pediatrics currently has 56 faculty members, including pediatric, newborn, and med/peds hospitalists. The division had over 7,000 discharges and 18,000 patient days in 2022. Newborn hospitalists cover the nursery at Ohio State Medical Center involving over 5,000 deliveries per year. The division also assists with the medical management of behavioral health patients at our Behavioral Health Pavilion.

Hospital Pediatrics faculty are engaged in a variety of quality improvement, patient safety, clinical pathway, and clinical research projects. Education of fellows, residents, and medical students is critical to our division’s mission. An ACGME accredited two-year fellowship program started in 2018 and welcomes two fellows per year.

Metabolic Genetics Faculty Position

The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a biochemical geneticist to join in our clinical and teaching activities.

The Division serves inpatients and outpatients of all ages in general genetics, cardiovascular genetics, and multidisciplinary metabolic clinic. There is a busy metabolic practice covering a range of inborn errors of metabolism in over 1000 active patients. The Division also supports a Clinical Genetics residency program, and fellowships in Medical Biochemical, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Nationwide Children’s is 1 of 8 Regional Genetics Centers funded by the Ohio Department of Health, serving over 3.5 million (>750,000 pediatric age) in central, northwest and southeast Ohio, with 35,000 births annually.

The successful candidate will join an expanding team that consists of eight clinical geneticists (two metabolic), 12 genetic counselors, two full-time metabolic dieticians, three nurse practitioners, and metabolic medical assistants/LPNs. Full genetics laboratory services on site include biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostic labs with on-site exome and genome sequencing as well as flexibility to send-out testing as needed.

The Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Marrow Transplantation in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University located at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a pediatric neuro-oncologist, who is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology to join our Neuro-oncology Program. Applicants must have completed pediatric neuro-oncology training.

The Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital serves children and young adults with CNS tumors with an integrated, multi-disciplinary, and scientific approach including neurosurgery, neurology, endocrinology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, palliative care, psychosocial services, fertility preservation, genetics, survivorship, and others. In 2023, The Ohio State University in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital opened the first proton treatment facility in central Ohio.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is the home institution for the Collaborative Network for NEuro-oncology Clinical Trials (CONNECT), led by Dr. Maryam Fouladi. The Neuro-Oncology program is also a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), and the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC).

The team currently includes 4 neuro-oncologists (Drs. Maryam Fouladi, Ralph Salloum, Margot Lazow, Sara Khan), 4 nurse practitioners, 4 nurse navigators, 2 social workers, and other staff to support the clinical program. The Neuro-Oncology Program also offers a one-year pediatric neuro-oncology fellowship training.

The program partners closely with the Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and combines a robust clinical laboratory with genome scientists and clinical geneticists to optimize patient care. NCH serves as the Biopathology Center to the Children’s Oncology Group and has 3 pediatric neuropathologists who are an integral part of multi-disciplinary clinical and research efforts of the Neuro-oncology Program. The IGM and the Biopathology Center are partnering with the National Cancer Institute and the Children’s Oncology Group in the Molecular Characterization Initiative (MCI), an NCI-funded initiative, to collect, analyze, and report clinical molecular data to support COG-affiliated clinicians in delivering targeted therapies for improved outcomes. In addition, the Neuro-Oncology Program collaborates actively with Dr. Dean Lee, Director of the Cellular Therapy and Cancer Immunotherapy Program to translate novel immunotherapy approaches to clinical trials for children with high-risk brain tumors.

Pediatric Neuropathologist, Department of Pathology

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) affiliated with the DPLM of The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek an academic anatomic neuropathologist at the level of assistant, associate or full professor to join one of the largest pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine departments in the U.S. The DPLM is in the midst of a five year multimillion dollar construction project. Anatomic Pathology is currently undergoing renovation and updating of the Gross Room and Histology Lab. Since the delivery of our whole slide imaging (WSI) scanner, we are in the process of validation for digital sign-out to be available by the second half of 2024. Neuropathology digital sign-out has been prioritized and is expected to be available sooner.

The successful candidate will join an experienced faculty of over 30 pathologists and doctoral scientists. Building upon an already premier program, the candidate has the opportunity to grow the academic mission of the department by providing excellent clinical care, education and/or research.

The DPLM accessions over 8,000 surgical specimens, over 1200 cytology specimens and performs over 90 autopsies per year. The Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) clinical laboratory processes 7,000 specimens a year. There is close collaboration between IGM and AP, and AP faculty participate in assessment of material submitted for clinical molecular testing as well as material submitted for the national molecular characterization initiative (MCI) for solid tumors. Neuro-oncology cases contribute to half of these cases.

Apart from the wealth of in-house patient cases from eight faculty members in Neurosurgery and five in Hematology/Oncology, there is exceptional opportunity for mentorship, collaboration, and growth and development from participation in national clinical trials through the Children’s Oncology Group, Head Start/NEXT Consortium Clinical Trial, and Collaborative Network for Neuro-oncology Clinical Trials (CONNECT). There is also great opportunity for collaboration with the Neurology Team and the cutting-edge work in neuromuscular disease at NCH.

The position will provide assistance to the Department’s anatomic pathology laboratory, active learning curriculum for residents, graduate students, pathology fellows, and consultative services and Outreach Program. An active, ACGME accredited fellowship program in pediatric pathology is an integral component of the NCH DPLM. Faculty development and academic advancement is central to our mission so we have instituted a robust mentorship program with mentors at NCH and other respected institutions.

Pediatric Optometrist

The Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Otolaryngologist to join the team.

The Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology consists of 14 outstanding pediatric otolaryngologists who offer the full range of subspecialty care and multi-disciplinary clinics. The program has an academic affiliation with The Ohio State College of Medicine and offers a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship. It is the third largest Pediatric Otolaryngology department in the United States and is a national leader in research and quality, averaging over 50 peer reviewed publications per year.

Preventive Pediatric Cardiologist

The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) in conjuntion with The Ohio State University Department of Pediatrics in Columbus, Ohio seeks a pediatric cardiologist with interest and/or advanced training in preventive cardiology, at any academic level, to join its growing and dynamic program.

Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology. Clinical responsibilities will include preventive along with outpatient cardiology, participation on the in-patient cardiology consultation service, and general cardiology night call. Other clinical interests can be explored.

The successful applicant will join our Heart Center team which currently includes 50 attending physicians and 33 advanced practice providers. The Heart Center is a dedicated hospital service-line that carries the mission of providing state-of-the-art, cost-effective care to our patients with congenital and acquired heart disease regardless of age. The Heart Center has over 20,000 outpatient encounters per year, including specialty and multispecialty clinics, and performs over 450 cardiothoracic surgical procedures and 700 cardiac catheterizations yearly. Comprehensive services include a single ventricle program, thoracic organ transplantation, blood conservation strategies, fetal cardiac intervention, a leading adult congenital cardiology service, and a robust mechanical cardiac and pulmonary support program. Outpatient services are provided on the main campus, Close-to-Home locations, and regionally at 13 sites throughout the state.

The applicant will be expected to teach and mentor fellows and trainees. The program includes advanced (4th year) fellowships in Advanced Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging, Interventional Cardiology, Acute Care Cardiology and Heart Failure/Transplantation in addition to the core categorical pediatric cardiology and combined pediatric-adult cardiology fellowship programs. Academic productivity is an expectation. Our program is closely partnered with the Center for Cardiovascular Research which provides infrastructures to support the clinical research enterprise, with opportunities to collaborate with additional research centers within the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at NCH.

Occupational Health Physician

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking an Occupational Health Physician to provide occupational health services to the employees of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Pediatric Anesthesiologist

Due to the expansion of the academic and clinical missions, the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital has a position available for a fellowship-trained pediatric anesthesiologist to join the chronic pain service. Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, and pain medicine are required. Additional training in Complementary & Alternative Medicine including clinical hypnosis or acupuncture would be welcome. Clinical time would include both chronic pain and providing clinical anesthesiology services. The distribution of the clinical time can be negotiated.

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine annually provides anesthetic care for approximately 40,000 patients with a faculty of 45 fellowship trained pediatric anesthesiologists, 55 CNRAs, and 8 fellows. More than 40 clinical sites are covered on a daily basis. The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine provides staffing and oversees a chronic pain clinic at both the downtown location and at our outpatient surgery center in Westerville as well as the palliative care and hospice programs. These programs are fully staffed with the support personnel required to run a chronic pain program. There is an active inpatient chronic pain rehabilitation program.

The Department has an active ACGME accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship and serves as the pediatric anesthesiology training site for The Ohio State University. There is also an ACGME accredited fellowship in palliative care and a non-ACGME fellowship in pediatric pain medicine.

Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist

The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH), the primary pediatric teaching facility for The Ohio State University, seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist, at any academic level, to join its growing and dynamic program.

Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology or critical care medicine, with advanced training in cardiac critical care or dual fellowship training in both specialties. Preference will be given to those interested in an academic career with research and leadership opportunities for the candidate’s professional growth.

The successful applicant will join our group of eleven multi-background academic cardiac intensivists and ten dedicated nurse practitioners devoted to the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) and providing 24/7 in-house coverage. Our free-standing CTICU is a 20-bed unit with >600 admissions per year (medical and surgical) and an average daily census of 12 patients. Comprehensive services include Stage 1 Hybrid and Norwood palliation, a comprehensive single ventricle program, thoracic organ transplantation, blood conservation strategies, and a robust heart failure/transplant/ mechanical circulatory support program. Current annual clinical metrics for include: >450 cardiothoracic surgeries, >700 cardiac catheterizations and EP procedures, and over 18,000 cardiology outpatient visits. Academic productivity is an expectation as is mentoring junior faculty and fellows. Pediatric Cardiologist, Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging

Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology, with advanced training and expertise in performing and interpreting echocardiography and/or advanced cardiac imaging (MRI/CT expertise preferred)along with a strong interest in clinical/translational research. The successful applicant will join our IAC-accredited NCH Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging team which currently includes 11 attending physicians and 20 sonographers, and performs more than 20,000 echocardiographic studies annually, including more than 1300 fetal, transesophageal, intracardiac, intravascular, and 3-D echocardiograms. Our growing Heart Center cardiac MRI/CT program includes 8 attending physicians from Cardiology and Radiology, and performs over 1000 annual studies. Pediatric Endocrinology Faculty

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, are seeking two academic endocrinologists for full-time faculty positions. The rank of this position may be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinical Academic Track.

The Division has comprehensive programs covering the full range of endocrine disorders and diabetes with 16,000+ patient visits per year. Sub-specialty programs include type 2 diabetes, Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome, thyroid nodule/cancer, Gender/DSD, metabolic bone disease, muscular dystrophy, PCOS, neuro-oncology and bone marrow transplant (BMT) survivorship clinics to name some of the large number of multi-disciplinary clinics covering a variety of conditions with endocrine related co-morbidities in the institution. The division has a plethora of robust quality improvement programs relating to endocrine conditions as well as diabetes mellitus and is a member of the Type 1 Diabetes Exchange QI Collaborative. The division supports a 3-year ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology, presently for 2 fellows/year and, is ranked #12 by US News and World Reports for Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Faculty

The Division of Pediatric Neurology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking a trained Pediatric Epileptologist with proficiency in epilepsy surgery to join our team.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology consists of more than 30 pediatric neurologists and offers fellowships in Epilepsy Surgery, Clinical Neurophysiology, Stroke, Neuromuscular medicine, Genetic Therapeutics, Neuromuscular Pathology, and Headache. The neurology faculty provides inpatient and ED consultation services, and the epileptologists staff a 10-bed epilepsy-monitoring unit (EMU). Over 50 intracranial epilepsy surgeries are performed each year, including stereo EEG, laser interstitial thermal ablation and advanced neuromodulation. A qualified applicant will have training and experience in presurgical evaluations and surgical planning within a multidisciplinary epilepsy management team.

Over the past 5 years, the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital has averaged over 14 million dollars annually in extramural research funding. Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist

The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH), the primary pediatric teaching facility for The Ohio State University, seeks a Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist, at any academic level, to join its growing and dynamic program.

Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology, with advanced training in pediatric interventional cardiology. Preference will be given to those who have faculty level interventional cardiology experience, particularly those with experience in hybrid stage I procedures, PDA stenting for pulmonary blood flow, transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement, lymphatic interventions, complex pulmonary vein interventions, and large animal catheterization. Opportunities exist for leadership within the interventional team, the pulmonary vein intervention program and lymphatic intervention program.

The successful applicant will join our group of two academic interventional cardiologists and two cardiac catheterization nurse practitioners, working in our two state of the art bi-plane catheterization labs, one of which is undergoing renovation into an iCMR suite, and our hybrid single-plane OR. The Interventional Cardiology (IC) program performs 530-550 catheterization (non-EP) cases per year, most (~65%) of which are interventional cases. The IC program is supported by our comprehensive cardiac surgery and thoracic organ transplantation program, which performs >450 cardiothoracic surgeries per year, and our free-standing CTICU, a 20-bed unit with >700 admissions per year (medical and surgical). Our Heart Center sees over 21,000 cardiology outpatients per year at 14 locations, including main campus, close-to-home centers, and outreach locations across the state. Academic productivity is an expectation, including participation in large animal catheterizations as part of a robust interventional, surgical, and tissue engineering research program. Teaching and mentoring of fellows, including an advanced Interventional Cardiology Fellow, is a requirement.

Pediatric Pathologist, Department of Pathology

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek an academic anatomic pathologist at the level of assistant, associate or full professor to join one of the largest pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine departments in the United States.

The successful candidate will join an experienced professional staff of approximately 30 pathologists and doctoral scientists. Building upon an already premier program, the candidate has the opportunity to grow the academic mission of the department by providing excellent clinical care, education and/or research. The successful applicant should be accomplished or willing to develop expertise in one or more areas of surgical pathology, cardiac pathology, pulmonary pathology, perinatal pathology, liver pathology, cytopathology, and/or transplant pathology. Faculty are fully supported to pursue a concentrated experience at other institutions in developing their subspecialty where applicable. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to faculty development and academic advancement, we have instituted a robust mentorship program with mentors at NCH and other institutions. Qualifications include board certification or eligibility in pediatric pathology.

The position will provide assistance to the Department’s anatomic pathology laboratory, active learning curriculum for residents, graduate students, pathology fellows, and consultative services and Outreach Program. An active, ACGME accredited fellowship program in pediatric pathology is an integral part of the NCH Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The Department of Pathology accessions over 9,000 surgical specimens, over 1,200 cytology specimens and performs over 90 autopsies per year. The clinical laboratories have a volume of >3 million tests per year and the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) clinical laboratory processes 7,000 specimens a year. The menu of IGM continues to expand to support AP.

The NCH Diagnostic Immunology Lab was recently constructed. This included an inauguration of the Jeffrey Modell Foundation for Primary Immunodeficiencies Diagnostic and Research Center at NCH. The lab is also in the midst of a 5 year multimillion dollar construction project. An intra-operative consultation suite and multi-headed scope room have already been constructed.

Articulate a strategy and corresponding plan that will result in NCH Toledo Urology Program being viewed as an innovative, pediatric healthcare delivery leader and extension of NCH Urology Program in Columbus.

Fully support the academic and educational objectives of the Department of Surgery. Provide educational leadership within the field of pediatric Urology and children’s surgery. Offer high level pediatric urology training for the Urology residents of the University of Toledo urology residency program. Partner with co-faculty at NCH Columbus and Dayton Children’s Hospital for multi-center research productivity. Lead, develop and help prioritize goals and objectives of future Toledo faculty for continued professional growth, education and skills development including the definition and measurement of outcomes, which are consistent with the overall NCH organizational strategy and mission.

Quality:

Actively participate in quality and safety initiatives. Evaluate clinical operations, both inpatient and outpatient, and implement programs that drive exceptional patient safety and quality performance to meet patient demand, and optimal access for patients and their families in a most efficient and fiscally responsible manner. Establish and support a program for clinical quality improvement, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
Develop and implement best practice standards, including innovative models of practice, patient satisfaction and quality initiatives.

Leadership:

Maximize on the vast array of resources and expertise available system-wide and at NCH. Collaborate and consult with Urology Department Chief as well as the resourceful and supportive corporate executive leaders.
Develop a work structure that allows physicians to balance clinical delivery while allowing time for research and academic activity.
In collaboration with fellow NCH Surgery and overall NCH leadership, build the strategic education and research plan for the Section and assist the staff in identifying and facilitating outside funding sources and opportunities. Encourage, support and review clinical training and education for medical students, residents and fellows.
Seek opportunities to create alliances with the provider community and actively participate in efforts to raise the visibility and recognition of NCH Toledo Pediatric Urology Program throughout the local community.
Provide and facilitate counsel and advice on physician matters, and intervene and moderate all major physician-physician, physician-patient, and physician-staff concerns. Support the NCH Surgery and Pediatrics physicians and overall team with their personal and professional development.
Monitor physician practice patterns, and presents data to physicians and committees for review, analysis and interpretation. Develop an organizational culture that emphasizes collaboration and a sense of mutual responsibility and accountability for performance across the Section.

The existing practice is part of the Promedica Physicians Eye Care team and includes 3 optometrists and one pediatric ophthalmologist. There is a large need for an additional pediatric ophthalmologist due to closing of another very busy pediatric ophthalmology practice in the area. This pediatric eye department is the nearest provider of these subspecialty services for a population of over 640,000.
The successful candidate for this position will join a comprehensive and subspecialty practice that includes retina, cornea, glaucoma, and oculoplastic subspecialists. The pediatric/adult strabismus referral relationships with pediatricians and other eye care providers are well established in this practice.

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking board eligible/certified Pediatricians for our community practice, Chillicothe Pediatrics in Chillicothe, OH. The providers of Chillicothe Pediatrics have been serving the community since 2004. The office is currently open 8:30am – 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday with evening hour on designated days. Providers rotate taking call from home.

Chillicothe is a city in, and the county seat of, Ross County, Ohio. Located along the Scioto River 45 miles south of Columbus, Chillicothe was the first and third capital of Ohio. Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Region of America, Ross County offers outdoor enthusiasts five State Parks, one National Park and over 120 miles of trails to explore. Pediatricians working at this community practice will be employees of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time (0.8FTE+), board eligible/certified Pediatrician to join our community practice, Hand in Hand Pediatrics, located in Dublin and Marysville, OH. Pediatricians working at this community practice will be an employee of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The pediatrician will provide quality, primary health care to patients in Children’s Community Practices, and actively participate in community health initiatives and quality of care improvement activities.
Qualifications for this position include board certification or board eligibility in General Pediatrics, strong clinical skills and a desire to help those in the community.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

As a nonprofit organization, Nationwide Children’s Hospital employees may be able to receive federal student loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. Certain qualifications may be required. If your application is approved, PSLF forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
